Centaur was one of many SEATO nations warships in the FarEast for Exercise Jet64.

Centaur built by Harland and Wolff, N.Ireland, laid down May1944, launched April1947, completed Sept 1953. Development of "Colossus" and"Majestic" class of Light Fleet Carrier. Displacement 22, 000T/27, 000 full load, length 738ft, beam w.l.90ft, draught 27 ft. Speed 28kts, 78,000shp, complement 1, 330 to 2, 100.

My uncle, Gilbert Sheedy, designed and made a stained glass window for this ship's chapel, does anyone know if the window survived the breaking up of the ship and if it did where it is now?

She was broken up at Cairnryan, a village on the West coast of Scotland, near Stranraer. There are many photos of her and some crew members on the battleships-cruisers web site.
