HMCS Margaree DDH 230 typical of modified StLaurent Class DDE/DDH mid-60s conversions to carry SeaKing anti-sub helos, all since retired from service, but the SeaKings soldier-on in 2007.

hello. I also served on the Margaree for a couple of years. I am building a 6 foot model with aluminum skin of this ship. I just launched it this past weekend and set ballest. I would love to get as many pictures of the ship as I could to help me make it as true to what the old girl was as I can get. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have pictures of my work so far if anyone is interested.

I served on the Margaree in 1971 - Radar Plotter, crossed the artic circle that summer - I have lots of pictures but they are all slides - I recall the Chief Cook was a bitter individual (female problems) and the crew blamed the poor food on him - The messing was the worst I had ever experienced both in the army and the navy - She was fast, very fast - I would be interested in seeing your pic's.

Hello David: I had a classmate LSER David C.Hart, ex Technical Apprentice, RCN who also sailed in Margaree in the 60s and erly 70s.He passed away 2 years ago, was from St Catherines, Ontario. So you post rather set me somewhat aback.

I have a family video (found in a garage sale) of man who served on Margaree. George...He has daughter Gloria, wife Shirley. Perhaps high officer or captain. Would like to return video.

I served as a cook on the Margaree 67-69....Was a great ship..did some growing up there.left the navy in 1970......Still miss it!!

I was a Radio Operator in 1979. We had the privelege of sinking half a tanker that was bobbing about in the atlantic.

I served on the Margaree from 1978 to 1980 and 1983 to 1986. Out of my 23 years service the Margaree was my best ship and I miss her dearly. She was my home, I lived on her.
I have some photos and a blue jacket with Margaree crest that we had done back in the late 70, s.Its in good shape and hanging in my closet.

I served on her from 1970 to 1973 as electrician I really like this périod of my life. I would like to see back my voucher friends of that time which I lost sight with years. If somebody served at the same time and knows Mike Moreau, Jim Gignac, Robert Asselin, Ben Lacroix and somebody else of that gang I would appreciate it very much that you let me know. This picture is very nice and remenber me a lot of a good souvenirs.Thank you very much. Next time I will put some pictures on this site.
