A unique conversion of the of the cargo holds to allow carriage of bulk cement in powder form together with the discharge equipment resulted in Burwah at the time being the World's largest self discharging bulk cement carrier. Loading port being Devonport in Northwestern Tasmania Australia, and discharging at specially built terminals in Melbourne Victoria and Sydney NSW.
