Hi, I posted this photo but am not the photographer. Photo was given to me by the original photographer as he knew my partner worked on her when she was renamed the Marco Polo.

glad u did what a good shot brings memorys back some say she was not very impressive, dont no where they got that from marco polo orient lines.

I went on this cruise ship approx 1985 and I had a great time with great russian entertainment and great russian hosts. I will always remember the charateristics of this ship. Didn't this ship sink, that is what I was told

Its sister ship the Mikhail Lermontov sank in 1986 trying to navigate the passage between a lighthouse and Cape Jackson, New Zealand. The ship make it into Port Gore, before losing power and sinking in the middle of the bay. All passengers escaped by lifeboat.

Hello - My family immigrated to Canada from Germany in 1967 via the Alexander Pushkin, it was only her 2nd voyage.

Hi there - In my opinion, the Alexander Pushkin was one of the best cruise ships to sail out of Australia. Between Feb.1986 and June 1989, I sailed on her 7 times and loved every one. The Russian crew were fabulous and although the food was a little bit ordinary, it was edible and nutritious. While the ship itself always seemed to be having air-conditioning or plumbing problems, it had an unbelievable atmosphere. I only wish it was still sailing in Aust. waters. I believe even as the 'Marco Polo' it has again been sold.
