Photo of the cargo vessel Elikon (IMO 5344865), berthed at Avonmouth, England, in 1980.
The cargo ship Elikon was built as the Sungate at Burntisland SB, Scotland, in 1958. She measured a loa of 140.9m, beam 18.3 and 8370 GT.
The Sungate changed name to Elikon in 1968, Lisa in 1981 and Montevideo in 1983. She was scrapped in 1984 at Kaohsiung, Taiwan.

I worked for Turnbull Scott from September 1961 to December 1983. Sungate was the first ship that I stepped on.

Sad to see her looking like that.It was my first ship in 1960 and 1961 as an apprentice. She always looked smart in her green. hull and white superstructure, and I thourghly enjoyed my 2 years sailing in her.

I was the electrician on SUNGATE from Feb 61 to March 62 sad to see her looking so run down.
