Argos research vessel entering Gothenburg
Operated by the Swedish Fisheries Board (Fiskeriverket), this is Sweden's largest and only ocean-going research vessel, photographed on 14 June 2008.
LOA: 61.25 m, Moulded breadth: 11.70 m, Moulded depth to working deck: 7.25 m. Built by Kalmar Varv in 1973 and comprehensively rebuilt in 1993. Mainly used for research in the Baltic, Kattegatt, Skagerack and the eastern North Sea.
Engines: 2 x Alpha diesels, 900 hp each. Electric motor for propulsion, 300 hp. Max. speed: 14 knots.
