AIDABella visiting Gothenburg
Big surprise for me this morning, 29 April 2008, when the AIDABella turned up at Skandiahamnen, escorted in by a tug spraying high into the air!
In March 2007, at the Papenburg yard of Meyer Werft, the keel of AIDAbella was laid. The traditional lucky penny was placed under the first of a total of 55 blocks, which weigh approximately 450t. The block was 32.2m wide, 6.90m high and 16m long and the ship was built under the yard number S.666.
The 69,200gt ship is the second in a series of six the Papenburg yard is building for the line.
Some 65% of the 1,025 cabins are outsides, of which 439 sport balconies. The ship features a 1,100-seat Theatrium, seven restaurants and 11 bars and lounges.
Power generation is provided by four diesel generators, each having an output of 9,000 kW. The MaK 9M43C engines can produce 25,000 kW of propulsion power for a top speed of 22 knots. The integrated navigation and command system is NACOS 65-5 by SAM Electronics.
The AIDAbella is registered in Italy, with Germanischer Lloyd serving as the classification society.
The ship left Emden for Kiel and was named in Rostock/Warnemünde by godmother Eva Padberg.
This I believe is the first revenue cruise, from Rostock to Bergen, starting on April 24.
