I was the signalman aboard 1963-1964 when part of the Vernon Squadron, and remember painting the interior of the open bridge a very pale blue. During this period she was the start ship for the 1964 Olympic yacht trails held off Poole, and following this circumnavigated the UK, partly in company with HMS Monkton.

Served on Beach on loan draft when in Vernon 1964. Remember fell in on the sweep deck for leaving harbour in Morecambe and we gave a rendition of one of Freddy and the Dreamers hits (dance included) for the watching civvies as we pulled out. Don't think the skipper noticed. My killick used to store his motorbike on the sweep deck. Happy days.

I served on the Beach from September 70 to July 73. Loved every minute of it. I have photographs of Askit - the commissioning ceremony - fleet exercises. I notice that the number obviously changed from M1107 to M1007 when it became a patrol vessel in Hong Kong - didn't notice at the time though.

Added by Denis Hayward (Brum) stoker at the time. on 08 May 2014.
Nice to see an inclusion from Brum Hayward who I got a glimpse of in the clip 'Dragon Squadron'. On the Beach 71-72

I was a friend of A/B Graham Charlton (Charlie) when he was on the Beach in 1971 in HK. We practiced karate together. He asked me to adopt Askit in order to save him. I am living between Baltimore and Washington DC and would love to get in touch with him.

Added by Andy Lowe on 14 February 2017.
I am sure Askit was on board when Lt.cdr Jeremy Blackam was CO.when we were in the gulf in 70/71. The year they took our tot away.
