During the lifeboat gathering in Gothenburg, on 2 June 2007, Scandica was the largest ship present. This was just 100 yards from where I live, in Eriksberg, the former shipyard in Gothenburg.
Built in 1982 by Asiverken, Åmal, this is a Baltica class harbour icebreaker/buoy tender, displacing 1,238 tons fully loaded.
Dimensions: 54.92 x 12.04 x 2.7 meters
Propulsion: 2 diesels, 1 shaft, 3,520 bhp, 15 knots
Concept/Program: National Swedish Administration of Shipping and Navigation ships; manned and operated by the Swedish Navy.
