Retired 257 Class DDE's at Halifax, NS 26.06.07

Retired Restigouche Class DDE,s Gatineau and Terra Nova alongside the 'Gun Wharf', Jetty Lima, Naval Armament Depot, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. These ships and the StLaurent Class DDE/DDH were the backbone of the RCN/Canadian Navy during the 'Cold War'. Terra Nova (outboard) served in the Gulf War. Twenty of these fine ships were designed and built by Canada from early 1950s replacing wartime destroyers and frigates. They were similar in many ways to contemporary RN Leander Class.

What is the difference between a DD/DDE and DDF Destroyer. I served on a Fletcher class DD in the 50's and have never heard of a DDE or DDF.
