Malaysian coaster 'Serdang' of 1945
Malaysian coastal cargo ship "Serdang" (522 tons gross, built by Goole Shipbuilding & Repair Co., U.K.), owned by Sharikat Perkapalan Kris Sdn. Bhd. (an assiciate of Straits Steamship Co. Ltd., Singapore; managers: Mansfield & Co.), at Penang in October 1967. She was completed in April 1945 as "Empire Seascape" for the British Ministry of War Transport; a WW2 standard coaster designed for Far East service. She was bought in 1946 by Straits S.S. Co., renamed "Serdang" & transferred to S.P.K. in 1947. She was scrapped in Singapore in March 1972.
