HMCS Acadia in 1940s

Acadia shown at Halifax during World War 2. She served the RCN in both wars, the only known vessel to do so, and survived the explosion at Halifax in WW 1. Built by SwanHunter&WighamRichardson;, Newcastle 1913. LOA 170ft; beam 33.5 ft; draught 19 ft; displacement 1,350 tons. Steam, triple expansion, 8 knots. Weapons (war time) 1 x 4 inch, 1 x 12pdr. Served the Canadian Hydrographic Service and Coast Guard for 56 years. Maintained at Maritime Museum of the Atlantic,Halifax and open to the public. Photo DND archives.
