HMNZS Canterbury (F421)

The Royal New Zealand Navy's "Leander"-class frigate "Canterbury" (2,945 tonnes full load displacement, built by Yarrow Shipbuilders) escorting HMY "Britannia" into Auckland harbour in February 1974 (see picture #21985). She was laid down on 12th June 1969 & commissioned on 22nd October 1971. She was decommissioned on 21st March 2005 & on 3rd November 2007 was scuttled as an artificial reef in Deep Water Cove in the Bay of Islands, northern New Zealand.
