Containership 'Isle of Ely' of 1958

British Railways Board's containership "Isle of Ely" (1,492 tons gross, built by Goole Shipbuilding & Repair Co.) at Heysham in January 1973. She was completed in October 1958 as a cargo ship for service in the North Sea & converted to carry containers around 1970.

This ship was renamed SPICE ISLAND GIRL.I had the pleasure of sailing on her.
