Singaporean containership 'Strathconon' (2)
Singapore-registered containership "Strathconon" (built by Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries, Tokyo), owned by Australia Japan Container Line (P&O; Group) at Dubai in May 1981. After entering I.H.I.'s Aichi yard in January 1981 for lengthening (see previous photo) she emerged 2 months later 14 m longer, with a gross tonnage of 15,763 & a capacity of 1,266 t.e.u. After several switchings of ownership among companies in the P&O; Group, several name changes according to charters ("Main Express", "Scandutch Hondo" & "Contship Spain") and a change of registry to Hong Kong in September 1981, she ended her P&O; Group ownership under her original name in July 1990 when she was sold to Golden Island Shipping Co. of Hong Kong & renamed "Peace River". She was scrapped at Alang, India, in 1999.
