Built in 1986 as the Konstantin Chernenko, and delivered to the Far Easterb Shipping Company (FESCO) for services from Vladivostok to Japan and South Korea. She was renamed Russ in 1988. In the 1990s she operated on charter with the Pacific Cruise Company, along with Mikhail Sholokov. In 1997, Russ began service from Stockholm to Riga for LS Redereja. She was laid up in Stockholm in 1999. In 2000 Russ operated between Odessa and Haifa, and in 2001 between Russia and Japan.
