HMCS Skeena DDE 207 at Esquimalt, B.C.1962

Skeena and sister StLaurent Class destroyer escorts at HMCDockyard, Esquimalt, British Columbia. These ships (7) were all converted to DDH configuration in the mid-late 60s with addition of hanger, flight deck for Seaking ASW helicopters. Additional changes included twin funnels abreast the hanger and variable depth sonar equipment at the stern. Most were still operational in the early 90's.

Had some great times on her , good mates etc .

Sailed on Skeena from 1963 until we took her to Lauzon Que. for conversion to a helicopter deck. great crew and had many great times.(ABLM2) Len Rice

Sailed on the Skeena from the time she was commissioned in Burrard Drydock North Vancouver until 1958. I served as a wireless communications Operator.

Served on Skeena during summer of 1967.
We were one of the guard ships for Expo67
We had a magnificent crew then. The ship had recently been re commissioned and we had not yet received the Sea King
We had daily visits from Expo guests from all over the world.
Proud to be Canadian in a top rate modern DDH.
