bygone days

The Rochester Castle was photographed by my uncle William McInnes who is now 92 it was taken off Capetown.
In and around 1954 it was taken on slide film but when I got the slide from him it was covered in mildew due to the fact it had been stored in a glass mount However it is a shot I would to have taken.

Very nice indeed. She was one of the medium sized cargo liners and came from Harland and Wolff in Belfast in 1937.
Union castle sold her in 1970 when she was renamed GLENDA possibly for the voyage to breakers which she undertook in November of that year to Whampoa.
