This photo was taken by my brother in laws late father Ted Gard, this photo amongst others were given to me by my brother in law as I have an interest in ships and shipping and have permission to post them. This photo was taken I believe sometime late 1958 at the port of Burnie, Tasmania.

Built by Stephen at Linthouse in Glasgow she was completed in 1935 and originally was twin funnelled.
She served until 1959 when she was sold to Greek owners and renamed HELLAS undertaking Mediterranean cruises.
After a period of layup she was scrapped in Turkey in 1989.

I travelled on the Taroona several times as a kid.I remember the captain was Capt.Bonneti he used to call me up to the bridge.A great ship.
