The last of the three Caledonian Macbrayne Clyde Streakers as they became known, SATURN was built by the Ailsa yard at Troon in 1978 for the Wemyss Bay to Rothesay service initially and this was at Rothesay just a week or so after entering service.
She has overtaken all the Clyde routes over the years and now is the sole survivor, her two near sisters JUNO and JUPITER now out of service.
She runs on the Gourock to Dunoon service at present, a route awaiting the outcome of fresh tendering.
