BOW MARINER - Product/Chemical tanker

In September 1999, BOW MARINER visited Bergen Harbour a few days while she waited for the cargo would be ready at the Mongstad oil terminal. It is not often Odfjell's chemical tankers are on this side of the world, but in 1998 and 1999, we had a visit to some of them. On 23 September, she left Bergen for the last time. She had imo: 7923512, and was built in 1982.

BOW MARINER exploded and caught fire 50 nautical mil east coast of the U.S. state of Virginia and sank 28 February 2004. Six sailors were rescued and three were found dead. 18 are still missing.
BOW MARINER had just left New York and was on his way to Texas City with 11 000 tons of ethanol (industrial alcohol) when the ship caught fire 80 kilometers off the island Chinoteague in the state of Virginia. The ship barely had time to send out mayday signals before it sank.
