BENARTY and NURJEHAN

Ben Line heavy lift ship in Glasgow in 1975. She came not from Charles Connell's yard across from where she was berthed but the Caledon Yard at Dundee in 1963.
Ben sold her in 1981 when she became KOTA PETANI and she was scrapped at Kaohsiung in December 1985.
In the background is the Asiatic Steam Navigation Co/ P&O;'s NURJEHAN built by Lithgow at Port Glasgow in 1963 also in the process of being repainted into P&O; Corporate Livery and renaming to STRATHNEVIS.
She lasted till 1984 when she was scrapped at Chittagong as DIMITRIOS P.PAPASTRATIS.

Anyone out there who served on Nurjehan in 1975 When the ship nearly sank on Irq al Ghurab Reef off the Saudi coast?

The Costa Concordia sinking brings this back to my memory of how we escaped with our lives!
