An interesting sight...we shall see it for ourselves in 2008 as our Freighter Willi Rickmers will be calling in as part of an extended 3 month voyage.. which we are looking forward to with great relish.

Hi Mike & Adrienne, Great little place and if you are interested in Maritime history, just up the road is the Maritime Museum worth a visit, and a great little pub just 5 minutes walk from the docks, hope you have a great trip and please let us know how you enjoyed it, regards Paul

Hi Paul!!
Well we ended up transferred to another ship...Albert Rickmers...but still visited NZ Pt Chalmers...took your advice and very good it was too. Many tears shed when the three & half months were up as we made very close friends with
all of the crew..and still maintain contact with many of them.
Saving up like mad to do a World voyage on the Breakbulk carriers next year..
that one is 5 glorious months aboard. I think we are well and truly hooked!!!
