CONCERT EXPRESS

Large Swedish registered ACL ro-ro container ship heading for Royal Seaforth dock in Liverpool in june 1988.
She was built as ATLANTIC CONCERT by Kockums at Malmo in 1984 and lengthened and renamed in 1987.
She has now reverted to her original name.
You get an idea of scale if you look at the white clad figure at the stern ramp.

For the Train Photos folk amongst you; I see these ships will be the preferred conveyance for the remaining Class 70 diesel locos building in the US.

The locos usually come in through Newport South Wales

Now changed I believe to come through Liverpool. 70017 was delivered this way and another four at least will come on ACL ships. The locos are on their own trailer which can be connected up to a cab unit on the dock and driven off the ship on arrival. More cost effecive evidently and does nor require a dedicated sailing.
