This is a 52ft Arun class lifeboat. Its not uncommon for other countries coastguard services to buy BRITTISH lifeboats when they are withdrawn from service.

So far ICE-SAR has bought 14 Arun Class lifeboats for service in Iceland. Only one of them didn't reach safe and sound to Iceland as she fell overboard from the container vessel SKAFTAFELL off the South Coast of Iceland some years ago. It was only small piece of her that made it to the shore.
