Two Castles passSeptember 1975 and Union Castle's PENDENNIS CASTLE passes Red Funnel's NETLEY CASTLE on Southampton Water.
PENDENNIS was completed in 1958 by Harland and Wolff at Belfast. Following the end of the South African Mail service she was sold and became OCEAN QUEEN. She operated as a cruise ship but did not have a great success and went to breakers in 1980 as SINBAD I.
NETLEY was built on the Tyne in 1974 by Ryton Marine. She was sold in 1990 becoming SIS.

She was replaced on the mail run by the chartered Andalucia Star from Blue Funnel Line but she wore the Union Castle Line colours.
