ISLE OF ARRAN launch

New Caledonian Macbrayne Clyde ferry at Greenock for fitting out following her launch from Ferguson's shipyard at Port Glasgow in December 1983.
The head tug FLYING FULMAR was built in 1974 by Ryton Marine at Wallsend and now sails as ALCE NERO having been sold in 1992.
At the stern is FLYING PHANTOM built also by Ferguson's in 1981 and sadly lost in a capsize on the Upper Clyde in December 2007 when assisting a bulker.

Excellent local maritime history image. Hard to imagine that the 'Arran' is 28 years now , how time passes so rapidly. There is a small plaque on the railings at John Browns (College) to commemorate the three crew of the Phantom , don't know if you've seen it or not.
