I had the great privilege of steering the British Respect from its berth at Sakaide out to sea on its maiden voyage. I remember it well as a mere eighteen year old 'geordie' lad.

Happy memories!

She was also in the 1977 Spithead Fleet Review where she was labeled 'No British Respect' as her crew did not line the deck to cheer the Queen!

I was a guest on this ship at the 1977 review. The crew were serving a banquet to us from all over the UK. So that's why they did not appear on deck. The crew were superb.

Hello

I am researching 'British Respect' for a Dutch magazine that wants to do an article on her, from her beginnings in the shipyard to her scrapping.
Would any of you be willing to tell me your stories about her?

There's not much to tell as far as I'm concerned I'm afraid. All I can say is that she was laid up on the Clyde for a period in the summer of 1975.
