In the late 1960s/early 1970s the Scott-Lithgow Clyde shipbuilding dock were consultants in the establishment of a major shipyard at Ulsan in Korea for Hyundai Heavy Industries.
The third ship from the yard, the first two being tugs was this VLCC ATLANTIC BARON completed in November 1974 to a Scott-Lithgow design. This was taken at Europoort in March 1976.
As ABT SUMMER she suffered a major fire and explosion in 1991 and sank, a sad end for a historic ship for Korea and eventually for Clyde and British shipbuilding fortunes in general.
