Ships and Harbours
No: 13065   Contributor: Paul Strathdee   Year: 1973   Manufacturer: John Brown and Company, Clydebank, UK   Country: United Kingdom

A historic ship, being the last built at the former John Brown shipyard on the Clyde, latterly Upper Clyde Shipbuilders' Clydebank Division.
With the collapse of UCS resulting in the famous "work in" she was launched in October 1972 and completed by the liquidator. This was also taken at Greenock at the end of December 1973 as she too prepared for her maiden voyage.
Not a distinguished class of ship but one which spawned the more successful Kuwait Class of large general cargo ship built in the later 1970s on the Clyde and also in Korea.
ALISA was scrapped in 1998 as KOSI BAY.
