One of three sisters, the Three Graces, she was completed by Harland and Wolff at Belfast in 1959 for Royal Mail Lines. Her sisters were ARAGON and ARLANZA.
This photo was taken by the late Donald Robertson, some of whose collection was passed on to me in Southampton Water in 1967.
In the late 1960s, AMAZON was sold to Shaw Savill and renamed AKAROA. In 1971 she underwent a tragic conversion to a vehicles carrier and was renamed HUAL AKARITA going to breakers as AKARITA in 1982.
