A view taken from a Mersey ferry in 08/87 showing a unknown Naval vessel on the slipway. We were on a trip to the Manchester ship canal which went pear-shaped. We never made Manchester.

That would be the Type 23 frigate HMS CAMPBELTOWN which was launched from Cammell Laird's on October 7th 1987. I think she might still be one of the few still in RN service.

HMS Campbeltown is a Type 22 frigate and is one of four still in service.
