I was on the northen star in 1972 I was only 7 years old but I remember everything about it, brought a silver cat which I still have and every kid on the ship wanted this cat. I feel so mean know but at the time I run round the ship stouting I've got the cat I've got the cat and I had a child crush on the waiter Charlie.

Northern Star left Southampton en route to the Breakers Yard on the 5th November 1975 - I was one of many Officers/Crew to be on the quayside when she sailed - we gave her a firework show from the pier.

I worked in Pursers Office of Northern Star 1971-1973 on mainline voyages to Australia and New Zealand and on South Pacific and Mediterranian Cruises. She was a fine ship to work on ~ unfortunately plagued with engine problems and she went to the breakers prematurely in 1975.

I've never heard anything really bad about her from those who sailed with her except of course the mechanical problems.
