Hi Paul, might it have been 1991?

Type 23, launched by Lady Eaton on the 23rd November 1991.
The 7th ship to bear this name, being a Type 23 'Duke Class' Frigate.
James Scott the Duke of Monmouth was the illegitimate son of Charles II. With the Accession of James II in 1683 and the return of a catholic king to the throne, Monmouth became the figurehead for those in favour of deposing him. After hiding in France the Duke sought to depose James; landing in Lyme Regis on 1 June 1685 he recruited an army and pronounced himself King. The battle of Sedgemoor was the last pitched battle on English soil on 5/6 July. Monmouth was soundly defeated, fled and was captured and beheaded at Tower Hill on 15 July. The return of a protestant sovereign to the throne recognised the Duke's courage in support of his country. However, the Duke's assets remained dissolved (blacking out of his coat of arms). HMS Monmouth flies a black flag in honour of the traitor Duke.
