Origo, expedition passenger ship

Photographed at Lindholmen, Gothenburg, on 7 November 2009, a very dull day!
IMO Number: 5180295, Flag: Sweden.
Built in 1955 by Finnboda Varf, Stockholm, Sweden for the Swedish National Maritime Administration.
GRT: 368, LOA: 39 m, Breadth extreme: 8.8 m, Draught: 3.2 m.
She started her career as a passenger ship and has been cruising the Arctic waters of Svalbard every summer since. There are also longer trips to the Antarctic and South Georgia.
With such a small party on board it it like travelling on a private yacht, and it offers an entirely different experience and perspective to that of a larger and more traditonal vessel. The atmosphere on board is relaxed and informal.
It seems that each trip begins at Longyearbyen, Spitsbergen.
