HMAS Parramatta at Singapore 1964

HMAS Parramatta F05/D46 and sister HMAS Yarra F07/D45 at HM Dockyard, Singapore 1964. Both ships are Improved River Class frigates similar to RN Leander class, built at Australian Naval Dockyards in the early 1960's. Displacement 2,750 T full load; length 370 ft; beam 41 ft. Crew 250. Propulsion 2 geared' steam turbines (30,400SHP) 2 shafts.Speed 27 knots. Primary role ASW. Parramatta commissioned 1961 and decommissioned in 1991. Yarra commissioned at the same time and decommissioned in 1985. See also picture #1135.
