Great to see her preserved, Peter.

And an early user of diesel-electric propulsion - our own Coast Guard uses it extensively for Ice-Breakers and Buoy-Tenders.

Sadly, we've let almost all of our historic Light-House Tenders go to the scrap-yard.

The Pat remember her at the quay side in Holyhead one day many years ago, beautiful wood paneling on her wheel house, her replacement's don't quite hit the mark.

Hi i was a crew member on Patricia in 1967 i served as Quartermaster Wireless Operator,also iwas onboard when Patricia performed two Spithead Reviews i left Patricia and rejoined THV VESTAL AS winchdriver then was transfered to THV READY AS winchdriver also acting Bosun on numerous occasions

Ron, my dad did two stints in Trinity, the first when he was very young, I remember him telling me he was at sea the day the Princess Victoria went down, the second time would have been during the 60's.

My grandfather, William Henry Aston Earp (1893-1963) was a naval architect and worked for Sir Eustace Smith, Smith's Dockyard, Teesside from 1909-1958. He designed the Patricia and my father, now 86, remembers going to the launch of it in 1938. The ship is now a floating restaurant and its history is on their website, including its role in Dunkirk and the Queen Mother having used it for a state visit.

I served in "Pat" twice. First in 65 when Bob Bean was bos'n (& Bill Baister was cook...well named) joined her in Hollyhead with "Rowdie" Yates. Did a Royal Escort during that time, In her again in early 70s.. Also served in Ready, Vestal and Siren. great days. Did some Foreign and home trade but I still think of Trinity with fond memories.

Back in 1966-67, + or -, Trinity Light House Supply Vessel, Patricia was Re-Fitted at Smith's Dock, Southbank, Middlesborough, quite extensively, Engine Accomadation, the work's! Prior to her being a TLHSV she was supposedly the Forrunner to the Royal Yacht Britania, Including re-furbishing of her Diesel Engine's, (Docksford Diesel's maybe's??). I was an Apprentice Ship's Joiner, & worked on her for quite awhile, while she was in Dry Dock, at Smith's Dock Southbank, later to become a Swan Hunter Shipyard!

Ian, she had 4 Rolls Royce diesels driving 2 English Electric generators and main motors. Auxillary sysytems were rolls Royce as well. She was always a THV and was the "Stand-by" Royal Yacht should "Brittania" be unavailable, She was also the Trinity flagship. You probably remember her aft accomodation....very opulent and grand.

Thanks for the Mechanical Info! As an Apprentice Ship's Joiner/Cabinetmaker, I went on hearsay, so I aint gonna dispute anything regarding her Mechanical Equipment. I'm now Re-Tired in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, Hundred's of mile's from any salt sea air! Pitty! Cheer's Ian.
