A & J Inglis Ltd., Glasgow, United Kingdom

A & J Inglis, Ltd was founded by Anthony and John Inglis, shipbuilders in Glasgow, Scotland. A&J Inglis was sold to Harland and Wolff in 1919.
Inglis has built over 500 ships at their Pointhouse Shipyard on the river Clyde. Amongst those were Clyde steamers, paddle steamers and small ocean liners. In the wartime periods Inglis built small warships too.
Amongst their most noticeably are the Waverley and the Maid of the Loch. Their other claim to fame was 17 whale catchers built between the late 1940s and early 1950s.

The yard closed in 1962 at the same time roughly Harland and Wolff closed their Govan yard on the opposite side of the river. Inglis' last ship was a dredger AIGBURTH. The site is now being developed as Glasgow's new Maritime and Transport Museum.
